The fundraiser was created to support Devey's wife, Linsey, and their four children as the family deals with the emotional and financial challenges following his death.

The loss was made even more painful by the timing of Devey's death. His wife revealed that he died on what would have been the couple's 15th wedding anniversary.


"Today would have been our 15th year anniversary," Linsey shared in an Instagram post. on Thursday. "We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs."

"We brought 4 beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles, and compassion," she continued. "You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, 'We'll talk soon."

Her emotional message offered a glimpse into the life Devey built away from football, where he was a husband and father of four.

Devey spent seven seasons playing in the NFL, representing several teams during his professional career. The offensive lineman played for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders — now known as the Las Vegas Raiders — and Buffalo Bills.

His career reached its biggest milestone in 2014 when he won the Super Bowl with the Patriots. New England defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the championship game, giving Devey one of the most significant achievements in professional football.
