The news of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's arrest in Dubai has now been declared 'fake' by the singer himself. Rahat said in a clarification video, "(translated from Hindi) I would like to request that you do not listen to the bad rumours. There is nothing like what the enemies are thinking."



Rahat took to his social media handle and shared the video, calling the rumours of his arrest false. Earlier on Monday, the news of Rahat being arrested by Dubai police over a defamation case filed by his former manager, Salman Ahmed, surfaced. According to international news agency ANI, the 'rumoured' arrest of the Pakistani singer may be related to his former manager Ahmed, who, according to Pakistani media, had submitted complaints against him to the Dubai authorities.


As quoted by Pakistan's Geo News, singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested in Dubai after the defamation complaint by Salman Ahmed. Geo News, too, quoted Dubai police sources for the information.

If we go by Geo News' sources, Rahat had dismissed Ahmed a few months earlier following a dispute between the two. The sources also said that both Rahat and Ahmed had filed cases against each other.

Though Rahat has issued a clarification video about the arrest being fake, it is still unclear whether it actually happened or not, as Pakistani media claims to have talked to Dubai authorities.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was in the news earlier this year too, after a video of him beating a man brutally went viral. The singer was spotted thrashing the man with his shoe. The singer later issued a clarification too.
