In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, CM Yogi Adityanath defended the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists, criticized opposition objections, and highlighted governance achievements. He emphasized transparency, improved law and order, successful public events, and the vision of making UP India’s leading economy by 2030.
Lucknow: Speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly during the discussion on the Governor’s Address, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and criticized the opposition for allegedly misleading the public. He asserted that the verification process is transparent and fully aligned with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The Chief Minister clarified that objections to names in the voter list are filed through Form 7, after which the Election Commission conducts a thorough verification. If a person appears in person and confirms that the objection is incorrect, the entry is immediately restored.
He questioned why the opposition is resisting a process aimed at ensuring accuracy and credibility in the electoral roll. According to him, the government’s objective is to maintain a clean and reliable voter database, not to create confusion.
Providing official figures, he stated that more than 2.88 crore names fall under the Absent, Shifted, and Deceased (ASD) category. This includes:
Highlighting administrative improvements, the Chief Minister pointed to the successful organization of the Magh Mela as evidence of efficient governance. He noted that while approximately 12 crore devotees attended the 2013 Kumbh, the ongoing Magh Mela has already recorded participation exceeding 21 crore pilgrims.
He described this as a reflection of public trust in governance and better management systems. Law and order, he added, has improved significantly, with stricter control over crime and enhanced safety for women. Farmers are receiving institutional support, youth are accessing employment opportunities, and welfare measures are reaching the poorest sections of society.
Referring to the Governor’s Address, the Chief Minister stated that it clearly outlined the state government’s achievements and roadmap. He remarked that Uttar Pradesh is progressing toward what he described as a modern version of “Ram Rajya,” where heritage and development advance together.
The government, he said, remains committed to public welfare, infrastructure growth, employment generation, and investment expansion. A major goal has been set to transform Uttar Pradesh into India’s number one state economy by 2029–30. He concluded by thanking members of the Assembly, including the Speaker and participating representatives.
