Arsenal star Kai Havertz announces second child with wife Sophia after London derby win; fans claim Mikel Arteta ‘spoiled it last night’

After Arsenal snatched away the 2-1 win from Chelsea in the latest London derby on September 6, Kai Havertz became one of the names dominating the headlines. But the striker is not only at the center of online discourse for his brace but also for other reasons.

The 29-year-old German has triggered speculation of welcoming a second child with wife Sophia Havertz (Weber) after their recent post on Instagram made on September 7, 2026. But fans quickly detected that the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already dropped a hint after the win against Chelsea last night, referring he actually “ruined the announcement” for the couple.

The Instagram post made on September 7, 2026, noted, “our chaos crew is growing” which features two pictures of the couple with their first child Romeo pointing their fingers at Sophia’s belly. The announcement comes around a year and a half after the pair welcomed their first child, Romeo June Havertz and this marks another major milestone for the pair who have generally kept their family life away from the spotlight.

Fans are already flooding the comments section with congratulating the pair due to the arrival of another member of the Havertz family.

As the news took over the internet, Arsenal fans believe that this is not entirely shocking and surprising to them as their manager Mikel Arteta might have dropped a hint after the London derby win.


During the post-match conference Mikel Arteta was asked about Kai Havertz after he scored the equaliser for the team against his former club Chelsea. Arteta happily declared, “Kai looks happy. Some great things have happened in his personal life as well.”

Their relationship eventually evolved beyond friendship in 2018, when Havertz was beginning to establish himself as one of Germany’s most promising young footballers during his breakthrough years at Bayer Leverkusen.

When the midfielder-turned-forward moved to Chelsea in 2020, she relocated to London with him as he began a new chapter in English football. But the couple’s relationship also faced difficult periods during Havertz’s early years in England. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the German endured a severe bout of the illness that left him bedridden, with Sophia providing support during an especially isolating period.


In March 2023, amid a difficult spell of form at Chelsea, he acknowledged that his performances and mood could affect life away from football and that Sophia had experienced a “tough time” alongside him. Despite those challenges, their relationship continued to grow stronger.

Shortly after Havertz completed his £65 million move from Chelsea to Arsenal in the summer of 2023, he proposed to Sophia. The couple announced their engagement on social media with a photograph of themselves embracing on a beach. A year later, they took the next step in their relationship. On July 18, 2024, Havertz and Sophia married in a private civil ceremony at a lavish country manor, with Sophia officially taking the surname Havertz.

In November 2024, the couple revealed that they were expecting their first child. Their pregnancy announcement featured their golden retriever carrying a tiny baby hat in its mouth, alongside the words “Our biggest blessing.” Their first child, named Romeo June Havertz, arrived in March 2025.
