Cristiano Ronaldo is one of those names who face intense scrutiny in his every moment, so his name is once again back in the headlines, but this time with some serious allegations. But not only him, but another Al-Nassr star also sparked speculation when he threatened to expose the Saudi League. It is another Portuguese player, João Félix.

Al-Nassr’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Ittihad on Friday, September 5, produced two viral moments that quickly dominated the conversation around the Saudi Pro League. João Félix’s cryptic refusal to speak to the media sparked speculation after he claimed he would “expose this league,” while Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to peek at a tactical note being read by Al-Ittihad’s Danilo Pereira.

Félix’s comments came amid his frustration with the match and a suspension, while Ronaldo’s apparent attempt to read the opposition’s instructions ended with both players laughing but ultimately resulting in Al-Nassr's defeat.

Here’s everything you need to know about the alleged ongoing drama.

João Félix refuses to speak after Al-Nassr defeat

João Félix was visibly frustrated after Al-Nassr suffered their first defeat of the season in Jeddah on September 5, 2026. The Portuguese forward had played the full match but was left particularly annoyed after receiving a yellow card in the 69th minute for a challenge on Al-Ittihad midfielder Richard Ríos.

The booking was particularly costly because it was Félix’s fourth caution of the competition, triggering a one-match suspension. As a result, he is set to miss Al-Nassr’s upcoming Saudi Pro League fixture against Abha.

His frustration continued after the final whistle when journalists approached him in the mixed zone. Rather than giving a traditional interview, Félix reportedly declined to speak before delivering the line that quickly went viral: “I won't speak to you, because if I do, I'll expose this league.”

The comment immediately triggered speculation that the former Chelsea and Atlético Madrid star was threatening to reveal something significant about the Saudi Pro League. However, the circumstances suggest it was more likely an emotional reaction to the defeat and the officiating decisions than a declaration that he was preparing to expose a major scandal.

Cristiano Ronaldo sparks ‘cheating’ allegations in the match

While Félix’s reaction generated controversy, Cristiano Ronaldo provided one of the night’s most amusing moments. The moment only became amusing because Danilo decided to laugh it off. But it seems the internet did not.

Late in the match, Al-Ittihad manager Jens Wissing sent a tactical note onto the pitch for Danilo Pereira. As the Al-Ittihad player opened the paper to read the instructions, Ronaldo walked over and appeared to lean across to sneak a look at what his opponent had been given. The moment was captured on camera and quickly went viral, with some social media users claiming that Ronaldo had been “caught cheating.”

In reality, there was little indication of anything serious. Danilo noticed Ronaldo trying to peek at the note, and the two players ended up laughing together. The incident was therefore more of a playful exchange between two experienced footballers than an actual attempt to gain an unfair advantage.

The lighthearted moment stood in stark contrast to the frustration surrounding Al-Nassr’s defeat and gave fans something to laugh about despite the result. But not all the fans took it in a fun way.

How did the fans react?

Fans quickly took to the internet to discuss Félix’s words. One user strongly said, “Last season he won the league, the golden boot and the POTS; he didn’t expose the league. Now he lost a match out of 5 or 6 matches he wants to expose the league.”

Another alleged that it was “rigged for him and his runaway leader Ronaldo” when they won last season’s league.

For Ronaldo, the users went a bit harsh as one mentioned, “Ronaldo cheats and then complains.” Another official page of Al-Ittihad wrote, “cheating and still losing!”

Others discarded the allegations, claiming “it was just a playful moment” and not really cheating according to the video.

Al-Ittihad handed Al-Nassr their first defeat

The viral incidents unfolded during a match in which Al-Ittihad stunned Al-Nassr with an early attacking burst.

George Ilenikhena was the star of the opening minutes, scoring a brace inside the first 22 minutes. The 20-year-old forward opened the scoring in the fourth minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake, doubling Al-Ittihad’s advantage in the 22nd minute.

Al-Nassr eventually found a way back into the contest through Angelo Gabriel. The Brazilian scored in the 36th minute after a move involving Ronaldo, reducing the deficit to 2-1 before halftime.

Al-Nassr pushed aggressively for an equaliser after the break, but Al-Ittihad resisted the pressure by defending well. The visitors created late opportunities, including attempts involving Sadio Mané and Félix during stoppage time, but could not find a second goal. The final whistle confirmed Al-Ittihad's 2-1 victory and handed Al-Nassr their first defeat of the season.

Ultimately, the match became about much more than the scoreline. Félix's angry “expose this league” remark created intrigue, Ronaldo’s playful attempt to peek at Danilo’s tactical note generated laughter, and Ilenikhena's brace ensured that Al-Ittihad walked away with the three points.
