In a post on X, Ali paid tribute to the Navy personnel who died in the recent US-Israeli strikes, describing their sacrifice as a source of strength for Iran's military. The post included an image of a personal note Larijani wrote in Persian during the funerals for over 80 sailors from the IRIS Dena ship, which was reportedly sunk by a US torpedo attack in the Indian Ocean last week.

A seasoned statesman, Larijani previously served as Iran's nuclear negotiator and was a close associate of the late supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, who was killed earlier during the ongoing conflict. However, as of now, Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed his death, which has left questions about his fate unresolved amid the conflicting claims.



Ali Larijani has been serving as the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council since August 5, 2025, in the role he was appointed to by President Masoud Pezeshkian and confirmed by the country’s leadership.

In this capacity, Larijani has been one of Tehran's most influential strategists on national security and defence policy, having previously held key positions across Iran's political and diplomatic spheres.
