Netflix’s live-action One Piece is expanding its cast as the series moves closer to adapting one of the most beloved arcs from the original manga. Among the new additions is Bridgerton actor Charithra Chandran, who will play Miss Wednesday — a character known to longtime fans for one of the story’s earliest major identity reveals. As excitement builds around the next phase of the pirate adventure, Chandran has opened up about the complexity of portraying a character who is both an undercover agent and a royal figure with a hidden agenda.



Miss Wednesday first appears as an agent working for Baroque Works, the shadowy criminal organization that operates through a network of numbered agents. She is introduced alongside her partner Mr. 9 and initially comes across as someone deeply embedded in the group’s operations.

However, the character’s true identity is eventually revealed to be Princess Nefertari Vivi of the desert kingdom of Alabasta. Vivi infiltrates Baroque Works as part of a risky mission to uncover a plot threatening her homeland. The organization’s secret leader, known as Mr. 0, is orchestrating a plan that could destabilize the kingdom, forcing Vivi to operate undercover in order to gather information.



For Chandran, portraying Miss Wednesday means balancing the character’s public disguise with her real motivations. The undercover persona requires calculation and restraint, while Vivi’s true identity is driven by loyalty to her kingdom and a determination to protect her people.
