It follows the story of the cursed samurai Manji, who needs to kill 1, 000 evil men so that he regains his morality.


​Additionally, a sequel manga series titled Blade of the Immortal Bakutsu Arc which has been written by Kenji Takigawa with Samura and illustrated by Ryu Suenobu.

​The manga also had 7.5 million copies by 2019.
