A Shop for Killers Season 2 episodes 1-2 recap: How did Jeong Jin-man’s plan to free Ji-an from Babylon go wrong and lead to a bounty on her?

A Shop for Killers is back with the same controlled intensity that made the first season stand out. Based on Kang Ji-young’s novel The Murderer’s Shopping Mall, the series is co-created by Lee Kwon and Lee Eon-hee. Lee Kwon returns to direct with Noh Kyu-yeob, while he and Ji Ho-jin handle the writing. Season 2 premiered on July 22, 2026 on Disney+ and Hulu, releasing the first two episodes together and continuing with pairs every Wednesday until the 12 August finale.


Lee Dong-wook reprises Jeong Jin-man, the arms dealer whose quiet calculation drives most of the action. Kim Hye-jun continues as Jeong Ji-an, older, sharper, and now in charge of Murthehelp after the events of Season 1. Jo Han-sun is back as Bale. New Japanese cast members Masaki Okada and Hyunri expand Babylon’s presence, while Kim Min returns as Pasin and other familiar faces fill supporting roles. The show still balances precise set pieces with the uneasy family bond at its centre.

These opening episodes pick up immediately after Season 1 and show how one carefully built rescue still managed to put Ji-an in greater danger than before.

Season 2 opens inside one of Babylon’s most secure facilities. A man who looks exactly like Bale moves through the corridors with purpose. He smashes through a wall and reveals Yong-han and the real Bale standing on the other side. Then the mask comes off. It is Jeong Jin-man.


The story rewinds to the day everyone thought he died. Jin-man stages the entire thing with careful help from police officer Park Jin-woo. A realistic body is left where Jeong-min will find it. When Ji-an calls the phone, Jin-woo is the one who delivers the news that her uncle is gone. The call is short and final. In an underground bunker Jin-man meets the rest of his small team. Pasin, the Thai fighter who once trained Ji-an, is there. So is Cheol-seung, a sharp North Korean defector with serious technical skills.

Jin-man lays out the numbers without any drama. Babylon believes he is dead. That gives them roughly 62 hours before the window closes. The target is the organisation’s protected server, the machine that holds years of operational records. Steal it and they have real leverage. Kill Bale if the chance appears. Free Ji-an from the constant cycle of hunters that has defined her life since she inherited Murthehelp.

The plan is practical and built around one daily weakness. The server is brought above water once a day for a short maintenance window. The team rides into the facility under a garbage truck stacked with toxic hospital waste. Cheol-seung clones a guard’s credentials on the move. He builds a prosthetic Bale mask for Jin-man and shuts down the CCTV. Jin-man walks the halls in disguise. He collects explosives from the armoury. Security robots start to flag inconsistencies in his appearance, but Cheol-seung keeps overriding the systems long enough for the mission to continue.


Cheol-seung reaches the server room, takes out a guard, and lifts the machine just as the window is closing. Then the real Bale appears. The two men fight on a bridge above the rice silos. The fight is long, messy, and personal. Bale survives by dropping into the grain below. Jin-man makes it to the rooftop with a bullet in his leg. Park Jin-woo and Cheol-seung arrive in a helicopter with the stolen server. Security surrounds them on the roof. They still get away.

The heist works. The server is theirs. Jin-man is alive and badly hurt. On paper that should have been enough to force Babylon into a real negotiation.

Jin-man limps home. Ji-an has already been dealing with the fallout from Babylon’s attack on the house. When she sees him the reaction is pure and messy. She punches him while he is still bleeding from the leg wound. The hit lands hard. Then they hug. He explains that the fake death was the only way to buy time and get the server. She listens, but she is finished with this world.

Jin-man has already prepared an exit for her. New identity: Lee A-rin. Cash. Papers. Brother hands her a bag with supplies, an emergency phone, and a flash drive. She takes it and leaves.

One year later the show jumps to Hanam-do island. Ji-an works at the local fish market alongside older women who barely speak to her. She lives in a small house wired with cameras and traps. Nightmares about Seong-jo still hit hard. One night she screams in her sleep. A neighbour named Woo-jin hears it, jumps the wall to check on her, and immediately triggers one of her security devices. She frees him at gunpoint, then watches him carefully through the cameras afterwards.


She goes to the mainland to replace a broken phone. On the way she hallucinates Seong-jo warning her. At a Thai restaurant she mistakes a foreigner for a tail and confronts him hard, only to learn he was simply returning the phone she left behind. She misses the last ferry. Woo-jin picks her up in his fishing boat. On the ride back the coast guard stops them. Woo-jin quietly dumps a box of guns into the water before the inspection. Later Ji-an notices a Murthehelp message on his phone. Trust is already thin.

Ji-an has the new name and the quiet island, but she is still living like someone who expects the next attack at any moment. The traps, the paranoia, the constant scanning of strangers. The quiet life is only quiet on the surface.

While Ji-an tries to disappear, Jin-man stays in the fight. He contacts Babylon’s attorney Jang In-seop and makes the terms clear. The server comes back only after Ji-an’s safety and the safety of everyone connected to him is guaranteed. Until then Murthehelp stays offline.

Babylon does not take the offer the way he hoped. Yong-han is stripped of power and later killed in an elevator by a new assassin. Kusanagi Jin takes over the East Asia branch. He is colder and more direct than the people who came before him. The organisation stops treating the situation as a negotiation and starts treating it as unfinished business that needs a permanent solution.


Brother is the one who delivers the news to Jin-man. A $20 million bounty has been placed on Ji-an through the Murthehelp system itself. The same network that was supposed to be paused is now advertising a price on her head.

The server was meant to be the ultimate bargaining chip. Instead it became the reason Babylon decided to hit the one person Jin-man cannot afford to lose.

This is the core of the first two episodes. Jin-man built a plan that should have worked. He staged his death so Babylon would lower its guard. He assembled a small, loyal team. He walked into their most secure facility, stole the one piece of data that could force a real negotiation, and got out alive with the server. He then gave Ji-an a new identity, money and a quiet island to live on. For a full year the plan held.

What went wrong is simple and brutal. Jin-man treated the stolen server as the ultimate leverage. He assumed Babylon would behave rationally once they knew he held their secrets. He told their attorney the terms clearly: the server comes back only when Ji-an’s safety is guaranteed and Murthehelp stays offline.

Babylon did not respond that way. Under new leadership from Kusanagi Jin, the organisation stopped negotiating and started escalating. Yong-han was removed and then killed. The East Asia branch tightened control. And instead of protecting Ji-an to get the server back, they put a $20 million bounty on her through the very system Jin-man had ordered paused.


Targeting Ji-an is more efficient than chasing Jin-man. A price on the niece forces the uncle to move. It also turns every person around her into a potential threat. The fact that the bounty appeared inside Murthehelp itself shows either a leak or that Babylon no longer cares about the deal.

The plan bought Ji-an time and a new name. It did not buy her safety. The quiet island life is already cracking under paranoia and questions about the people closest to her. Woo-jin’s possible link to Murthehelp only deepens the sense that the escape was never complete.

Ending explained

Episode 1 ends with Jin-man escaping by helicopter, injured but alive, server in hand. The first reunion with Ji-an follows. The emotional punch is the mix of anger and relief when she punches him and then holds him. The episode closes on the cost of that return.

Episode 2 ends on two parallel notes that land hard. Ji-an is back on the island after a tense boat ride with Woo-jin. She is already questioning whether her neighbour is clean after seeing the Murthehelp message on his phone. At the same time Brother informs Jin-man that a $20 million bounty has gone live on Ji-an. The final image is the weight of that news landing on both of them in different places. The plan that was meant to free her has instead made her the most valuable target in the underworld.


What comes next is the fallout. Ji-an cannot stay hidden once the bounty is public. Woo-jin’s possible link to Murthehelp raises immediate questions. Jin-man still holds the server, but every day he keeps it increases the pressure on everyone around him. Kusanagi has already shown he will kill his own people to tighten control.

The next episodes will force Ji-an back into the open and put the uncle-niece pair against a version of Babylon that is no longer interested in deals.
