What is Heartbeat about?

Heartbeat is described as a sweet fantasy romance that tugs at the heartstrings. The drama will tell the story of a woman who possesses the unique ability to see the past, and a man who is forced to hide his past, and happens to look exactly like her deceased first love.

Han So-hee is set to play the female lead, Hong Sa-rang, while Nam Joo-hyuk will take on the role of Cha Shin-jo. Although the premise leans into the unbelievable realm of fantasy, it promises to be a relatable record of an immortal first love that everyone has dreamed of at least once. The drama is being produced by Bon Factory, the powerhouse behind the massive hit Sunjae and Run (Lovely Runner), and will be penned by writer Lee Si-eun, ensuring a top-tier production team.

Nam Joo-hyuk returns with The East Palace

Before he dives into this new romance, Nam Joo-hyuk is making his highly anticipated return to acting after completing his military service with the Netflix dark fantasy drama The East Palace. His performance in the series has received a mixed but ultimately positive reception.

While some critics have praised his return, others have criticised a lack of originality in his portrayal of a Joseon-era character. However, the general consensus is that even if The East Palace may have its flaws, Nam Joo Hyuk marks a successful, if not perfect, return to the screen.

Han So-hee's reign continues

Meanwhile, Han So-hee continues to solidify her status as one of the most sought-after actresses of her generation. She has carefully curated a filmography that showcases her versatility, from the nuances of Nevertheless to the intense action of My Name, for which she underwent extensive physical training. Despite mixed reviews for Netflix's Gyeongseong Creature, she added another notable performance to her resume.

She is also set to star in the Korean remake of The Intern, further proving her drawing power. Her decision to return to the romance genre for Heartbeat has fans eagerly awaiting to see her chemistry with Nam Joo Hyuk.
