The English Premier League weekend is all dramatic matches and how the point table turns. Manchester United, who has been named to be one of the favourites this season to win the title, have already dropped points against Hull City and Everton. Manchester United now stands at the 11th place in the table while Everton is in 8th.
Manchester United let two valuable points slip away in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Everton on September 6, 2026 at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The first half went goalless but the Red Devils pulled a lead two times only to lose it in the next minutes. Meanwhile, Everton pulled a 96th minute equaliser to share the points.
Meanwhile, Chelsea scored an early opener in just 2 minutes in the London Derby with Arsenal equalising in the 25th minute by former Chelsea player Kai Havertz.
Manchester United dropped points against Everton on September 6, 2026 which triggered massive ‘Sack Michael Carrick” claims.
After a goalless first half, United appeared to be heading for victory when Bryan Mbeumo opened the scorecard just two minutes after the break with a fabulous solo effort. Everton struggled to break through initially but Tyrique George changed the game in the 83rd minute with an equaliser. The drama did not end there.
Benjamin Sesko then restored United’s lead just five minutes later with a clinical header, putting the visitors within touching distance of three points. But the Red Devils fumbled with their defense in the stoppage time as Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a spectacular debut goal in the 96th minute to rescue a point for David Moyes’ side.
Manchester United enjoyed 55% possession and completed 441 passes compared with Everton’s 386, while both teams lined up in identical 4-2-3-1 formations. However, Everton produced 16 shots and 6 on target, compared with United’s 3 shots on target, showing the hosts were more dangerous in the final third.
The match also saw several yellow cards, with Everton's Harrison Armstrong booked in the 13th minute and Brennan Johnson in the 34th, while United's Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot were also cautioned. Merlin Röhl received Everton's other yellow card in the 64th minute.
Fans call for
The Manchester United fans have been struggling to enjoy a long-run victory in the recent seasons. With the Reds playing the Champions League, dropping points to Everton triggered a tense situation amongst the fans.
A frustrated fan voiced their opinion saying, “Clear the debt, sell the club and f**k off back to Florida. Glazers out.”
Another noted, “Michael Carrick really spoiled the show today” hinting that his approach and strategy failed against Everton as the manager was allegedly relying on counter-attacks when they were winning.
Some blamed goalkeeper Lammens, some blamed United star Bruno Fernandes but majority blamed Carrick and called for his sack already in the starting of the season, claiming “Carrick you caused the defeat.”
One user wrote, “the title challenge lasted three match days” mocking the club.
For United, the 2-2 result will feel like two points dropped, while Everton will take plenty of confidence from their remarkable late comeback. They will next host the UCL debutant Sabah FK on Friday, September 10, 2026. Fans are hoping for a welcome blast in the first match of UEFA Champions League

You’re ahead twice, and instead of using that advantage to put more pressure on Everton and kill the game off, you choose to sit back and wait for them to… pic.twitter.com/QOaDQRHrif
