India and Pakistan met again, this time on the hockey field, but the contest barely resembled the closely fought rivalry the fixture usually promises. India produced a relentless attacking display, leaving Pakistan with no way back as the defending champions marched into the final four.

The 19-0 scoreline at the 2026 Women's Junior Asia Cup in China, told only part of the story. India dominated from the opening stages, continued piling on the pressure after the break and eventually completed one of the most emphatic wins of the tournament.

India turn Pakistan clash into one-way traffic

Pooja Sahu got India off the mark in the seventh minute, setting the tone for what would become a long afternoon for Pakistan. Sanika Mane then found the net twice as India's attacks continued to come in waves. Pakistan struggled to contain the defending champions, who had already established a commanding 10-0 advantage by half-time.

There was little respite after the interval, but India returned with the same intensity and added another nine goals to their tally, with Pooka Malik completing a hat-trick. Supriya and Purnima Yadav also struck twice each as India maintained complete control until the final whistle.

Indian fans turn to social media after 19-0 rout

The 19-0 humiliation quickly spilled onto X (formerly known as Twitter), where Indian fans wasted little time trolling Pakistan after the one-sided hockey contest.

'Thank God, the match was live' was one of the sarcastic reactions doing the rounds. Fans appeared to be mocking Pakistan's perceived habit of claiming victories or taking credit for achievements, joking that this time the result had been broadcast for everyone to see.

Others simply labelled the 19-0 defeat humiliating, adding another layer to the ongoing sporting rivalry between India and Pakistan.

The reaction also came against the backdrop of another India-Pakistan sporting contest in women's cricket, where India had recently dominated Pakistan. That result had already fuelled plenty of discussion around the rivalry, and the junior hockey team's 19-0 victory added another emphatic result for Indian fans to celebrate.

India march into Junior Women's Asia Cup semifinals

The massive win secured India's place in the semifinals of the 2026 Women's Junior Asia Cup in China. India had already shown its strength during the group stage, beating Japan, Malaysia and South Korea to finish at the top of its group.

The defending champions now move into the knockout stage with their title defence firmly on track. India will face the winner of the South Korea versus Malaysia quarterfinal for a place in the summit clash.

India eye third straight Junior Asia Cup title

The defending champions have even bigger ambitions after their latest victory. India are chasing a hat-trick of Women's Junior Asia Cup titles after lifting the trophy in 2023 and 2024.

The 19-0 demolition of Pakistan has given the team plenty of momentum heading into the decisive stages of the competition. With the semifinals next, India will now look to turn another dominant performance into a third consecutive continental title.
